Pictura Journal began in a dim midwestern kitchen during tornado season. A handful of storms and years and missteps later, we’ve finally managed to get it put together. Thanks for joining us.

We’ll have a fuller masthead up soon, but for now:

Alicia Wright, Founding Editor

Alicia received an MFA from Bowling Green State University and worked for Mid-American Review and Rabble Lit. Her work has been published or is forthcoming in The Crawfish, Same Faces Collective, Kestrel, Pine Mountain Sand & Gravel, Sweet Tree Review, The Cape Rock, Sugared Water, Kenning Journal, and elsewhere. She currently moonlights as a freelance copy editor, proofreader and community literacy educator and has been writing poetry and short prose for more than 20 years.

A note about dark mode: this site was designed with lighter colors in mind, but we know that’s not ideal for all readers. If you’d like to switch to dark mode, click the icon at the bottom left corner of the site.

We’re looking for a volunteer reader or two to help review submissions. No editing experience is required! Since we’re a new journal, the time commitment for readers might be minimal for now, but if you’d like to join us you can send your bio and publication credits or a brief writing sample to hello@picturajournal.com.
